The hotel was in an excellent town centre location. We booked & stayed in room 218 Suite Terraza, the view from the terrace was terrific, the room was spacious, comfortable, with excellent air conditioning, with; a fridge & refreshment making facilities, plenty of clothes storage space, seating & two tvs. All staff at the hotel. from reception, breakfast & housekeeping, were knowledgeable, friendly, approachable & helpful & made us feel welcome & were genuinely interested in us & not just as paying customers. The hotel was clean & well appointed. Car parking was available at an extra cost, however, this was not expensive & was essential due to the TLZ in the town & the fact that most other hotels did not have a car park facility. ☹Room 218 is one of the rooms in the hotel which does not have a walk in stand up shower due to to the design of the sloping ceiling bathroom & due to the age of the hotel,however, there was a telephone shower in the jacuzzi bath . The air conditioning was excellent and the hotel had everything we needed including its own bar, our room was spotless and the breakfast was perfect. The hotel is old fashioned and charming. The bathrooms are in need of an upgrade both fixtures and lighting. But it’s quirky ways also are the very thing that makes it charming. I would ask for a room furthest away from Via Nationale as that street can be loud at night. They have a nice breakfast each morning w an option to eat in the outdoor courtyard. The staff are excellent in every way. The included breakfast was also better than most hotel breakfasts. The location is ideal, just steps from the main piazza. It's also less than 100 meters from the Congress Center. It's the only hotel in the historic center with private parking, accessible for guests through the city gate on Via Guelfa. The hotel has a 24-hour reception, an elevator, a very good, generous breakfast buffet with a wide selection of sweet and savory items, an on-site bar, and a wellness area with a hot tub. It offers 40 unique rooms equipped with modern amenities, wooden beams, free Wi-Fi, and, in some cases, hot tubs or views of the Val di Chiana. All rooms are air-conditioned. All the hotel and reception staff are welcoming, smiling, competent, professional, friendly, and helpful. Prices are expensive but fair for the quality of the hotel. The vibe of the hotel is olde worldy. The rooms are comfortable with a good amount of space. Bed 🛌 was firm but OK. The room had tea and coffee ☕️ and a kettle but no mugs or teaspoons. A bit weird. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Posted on TripadvisorVerified One week holiday at at Hotel San Michele Cortona We stayed for one week for our wedding. the Hotel styled in typical Tuscan style & is centrally located near the top of Via Guelfa which leads onto the Piazza Della Republica & Piazza Signorelli, a short 2 minute walk from the front door. The hotel provided parking at an extra cost of 30Euros per night. We stayed in room 218, which was beautiful, spacious, well appointed with a terrace Balcony with a lovely view. The only downside was that there was no stand up shower in the bathroom due to the sloping roof. All of the staff, from Reception, Breakfast staff & Housekeeping, hotel were welcoming, friendly, helpful & knowledgeable & all made our stay perfect & enjoyable. the breakfast was varied & substantial with a lovely outdoor covered courtyard for dining. The only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is the tub/shower setup. We stayed in an upper room (with a balcony with a great view). There is a bathtub, with a long cord for a shower. But the bathtub is not enclosed and the ceiling is low, so it is very difficult to take a shower without getting the room wet.
